Alfred Hitchcock Avatharippikkunnu(2010) is a collection of Malayalam short stories written by the South Indian writer Maria Rose. The book is based on seventeen episodes of the celebrated television series, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, directed by Alfred Hitchcock himself. The book is the first instance of adaptation from motion picture to literature in Malayalam literary scenario. In the introduction to the book, the author says that the book is solely based on the televsion episodes and that the collection is not a translation of the stories on which the series is based. Every story is introduced and concluded by a fictional Alfred Hitchcock in a tone of black humour, for which he is famous. The stories are followed by a study of the television series. According to the author, the television series was a miniature of films of Alfred Hitchcock.
