Alexis Cohen

Alexis Cohen (1984- July 25, 2009) was an aspiring singer, actress, and artist. Affectionately nicknamed “Glitter Girl” due to the sparkly makeup she wore during her first TV appearance. She gained most of her public recognition as a result of her two American Idol appearances.
Personal life
At the time of the 2007 American Idol taping, Alexis lived in Allentown, Pennsylvania with her mother, one dog and two cats. She was in the process of studying to become a veterinarian and was a self-proclaimed animal rights activist "first and foremost."
American Idol
Season Seven
Alexis became a popular show contestant, and later internet sensation, as a result of her American Idol audition in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania during the seventh season. After her performance of “Somebody to Love” by Jefferson Airplane, the judges rejected her, claiming that her voice was better suited to a Rock n’ Roll style cover band. Initially, Alexis took the rejection well, but soon degenerated into a lengthy, profanity-laced rant, during which she expressed a desire to moon the cameras and to call judge Simon Cowell “Very bad words.” The exuberant meltdown, described as going "viral" on the internet sparked an internet fan following, as well as several subsequent TV appearances.
Season Eight
To the surprise of the judges and fans of American Idol, Alexis auditioned again during the eighth season of the show. She told the judges that she had attempted to refine her image, and wore a conservative, floor-length dress. In spite of her significantly improved manners, the judges once again prevented her from continuing to the next stage of the show. Alexis laughingly responded by repeating some of the profanities from her first tirade, albeit in a much more subdued manner.
Death
On July 25, 2009, at Alexis was found unconscious near a road in New Jersey, 300 yards away from her parked car. She was later pronounced dead after being taken to Community Medical Center in Toms River, New Jersey. It was assumed, after an assessment of her injuries, that she died as a result of a hit-and-run accident. 23 year-old Daniel Bark of Toms River, New Jersey has been arrested and charged with reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident in relation to Cohen's death.
