Alexander Gale

Alexander Duncan Shanks Gale (17 December 1892 - 31 March 1965) was a New Zealand cricketer. He played one first-class match for Otago in 1929/30.
Life and career
Gale was born in Scotland and moved to New Zealand in 1905 with his family.
Gale served with the Eighth Reinforcements for New Zealand in World War I. On 12 October 1917, whilst in Egypt, Gale was wounded in action, before eventually returning home on Christmas Eve 1918.
Gale married Alice Austin in Dunedin in April 1920. They farmed in South Otago before moving to Dunedin, where Gale worked as a clerk.
Gale was a batsman. He represented North Otago in 1924, and was later a prominent batsman in South Otago. After moving to Dunedin he was a prolific scorer in club cricket for High School Old Boys until he retired in 1933. In his only first-class match, at the age of 37, he scored 3 and 28, which was the top score in Otago's second innings in their innings defeat by Canterbury in the final round of the 1929-30 Plunket Shield season.
