Alex Tweddle

Alex Tweddle is a English Film and Television writer, producer and director, best known for his documentaries such as Juarez City of Dreams , The Forgotten Children of Congo and 21st Century Male.

Tweddle was born in Carlisle, England, into a working-class family. His mother was from Yorkshire and his father was born in Carlisle. He studied at The Birmingham School of Speech and Drama and at the The London Film School. He began his career making short films which were screened on Channel 4 and won a number of International Film Festivals. He then decided to concentrate on documentaries, these were funded through various UK regional development agencies and the UK Film Council. His intention is to make visually stimulating films with a humanitarian focus, that give insight into areas that are often overlooked in main stream documentaries.
