Alessandro Simonetto

Alessandro Simonetto (born in Bassano del Grappa, 1974) is an Italian musician and sound engineer.
Background
Alessandro Simonetto graduated, as an autodidact, in pianoforte in three years at the “Steffani” Conservatory of Music in Castelfranco Veneto (Treviso) and in Electronic music (countemporary composition) at the “Pollini” Conservatory of Music in Padua. He also studied harpsichord, choral conducting and (traditional, jazz and electronic) composition.
Activities
At the very early age of 6 he started composing music for piano (including a Mazurkas book inspired by Chopin). He then was mostly inspired by the contrapuntual method: here he wrote for disklavier, organ and chamber music, choral music (choral settings). With the electronic he confined in the field of algorithm.
Alessandro Simonetto is the founder of the Kunst der Fuge website, an exhaustive, and probably the largest, resource of classical music in MIDI format. The resource counts counts over 16,000 free files. The files have been produced by many contributors and are ordered by composer. A plethora of these files are licensed under CC BY-NC-SA license. OnClassical also adopts the philosophy of Creative Commons (complete previews in MP3 files and other material are release under a CC license).
Simonetto is also founder of classicaland.com, a free of sheet music books in (PDF), he scanned from his old music library, now out-of-copyright.
