Albert Park Futsal Club

History
Albert Park Futsal Club was formed in September 2007 by a few friends that just wanted to meet up every Saturday and play in the Tees Valley Futsal league. The club was formally called “The Boyo’s” (the origin of the name was a term that was used to describe the togetherness of friends) and from there the team has meteorically scaled new heights. Other than a few players, the rest that were selected had previously never played Futsal before and a few of them hadn’t played with each other either.
Halfway through the season, the team voted to change the name to Parkus Alberto Futsal Club, but due to The FA requirements, the club was forced in to its third name change…Albert Park Futsal Club.
So the challenge was to get a group of twelve players on the same wavelength working for each other, this was not easy as they would only see each other once a week. The team showed a lot of spirit and togetherness and as the games started to roll in thick and fast, the performances improved dramatically.
Albert Park Futsal Club entered the Tees Valley Futsal League in October 2007 where the teams consisted of Middlesbrough Futsal Club, two University teams, Parkside Rangers and Teesside FC, all of which had been playing in the league for the past three years.
From the first league game Albert Park knew they were up against it and the inexperience started to show through. All credit to the team though, they stuck at it, trained hard and after the Christmas holidays Albert Park were stronger, both mentally and physically.
In the second half of the season, results improved majorly and Albert Park started to play some fantastic Futsal. Only Albert Park's inexperience was the club's downfall.
Tournaments and Competitions
Albert Park Futsal Club have taken part in two major Futsal tournaments, the first being the 3rd Tees Valley Futsal Cup in April 2008 and the Annual York Futsal Open in June 2008 where Albert Park played against established teams from across the U.K. The club produced some respectable performances with small squads and is looking to improve in the results in the upcoming 2009 tournaments.
2008/2009
The 2008/2009 season has started promisingly; After a long hard summer in search for sponsorship, the club happily announced a partnership with Liberty’s In Town, a local bar situated in Middlesbrough.
On the pitch, the team kicked off there first friendly with a 4-4 draw against the University of Teesside 2nds, a game in which Albert Park were very unlucky not to win.
The next friendly saw Albert Park narrowly lose 7-4 to Middlesbrough Futsal Club in which they played a team that are regarded as the one of the best in the North East. To match a team that finished sixth in the FA Futsal League for so much of the match shows what a major improvement Albert Park had made.
With the league starting soon, Albert Park are training and playing mini training friendlies in preparation for the start of the league season.
