Frederick Alan Rissberger ("Riss") is a science teacher at Chapel Hill High School in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. As of 2022, he teaches AP Environmental Science. Biography Riss was raised in Rochester, New York, and attended Churchville-Chili High School from 1984 to 1987. In 1987 he attended the State University of New York at Geneseo, where he earned his bachelor's degree in geological sciences. In 1991 he earned his master's degree in geochemistry at the University of Maine at Orono. During this time, he conducted laboratory work for an acid rain project at the Sawyer Environmental Research Center, and he served as a laboratory technician for the U.S. Army at the Aberdeen Proving Ground in Aberdeen, Maryland, where he analyzed soils for nerve agents. Riss then worked as an environmental consultant, in which he wrote environmental impact statements and coordinate cleanup activities for local governments and oil companies in the Maryland-Virginia-Washington D.C. region. and helped manage the equity team. He has worked with students.
