Al Qasr International Festival of Theatre

The Al Qasr International Festival of Theater () , in Ksar El Kebir, Morocco, was established in 2014 as an initiative of the Nawariss Association for Development and Creativity. The festival was then extended to host activities of all arts. The activities that take place in the cultural house (Dar Takafa) of Ksar El Kebir (northwestern of Morocco), consist of theater plays from Morocco and from foreign countries, painting exhibitions, books exhibitions, training sessions, as well as meetings about theater with the most recognized critics, writers, researchers and academics from different countries. The festival is organized for an unlimited period of time by Festival Al-Qasr International of Theatre Foundation that has a moral, financial, and administrative independence; and whose activities are not political, union, or religious in nature.
The First Edition
This edition was held from 26th to 30 March 2014 under the slogan "The theatrical movement in KSAR EL KEBIR between yesterday and today." All this edition’s activities took place in Dar Takafa in KSAR EL KEBIR. And the festival received as a guest, on the occasion of the World Theater Day, Mr. Redouane Ahdadou one of the most notorious theater writers of Morocco. The training sessions chosen for this edition were about preparing future actors. The trainees took courses in acting techniques, scene study, movement, and voice-speech-diction. And there was a final play performance. Those sessions were mentored by a team of Moroccan academics in theater.
The Second Edition
One year later the second edition of the festival was held. This edition was held from 24th to 31 March 2015 under a slogan of "Theater gathers us". In this edition, the festival honored and celebrated the writer Abdelkrim Berrechid, who wrote the letters of his name of gold and enriched the Arabic and national library with acts of resounding success that have been performed at home and abroad.
Like the first edition, the training sessions were also about preparing future actors. The sessions were mentored by two graduates of the ISATAC Rabat, Mr. Boucaîb Essemak and Mr. Saîd Bekkar. Alongside with the training sessions, the organizers wanted to create a serious debate about the celebratory theater, as a form of festive and popular theatrical entertainment, and its relationship with Arab and international environment in a seminar in which participated Dr. Abdelkarim Berrachid, Dr. Redouane Ahdadou, Dr. Azoubayr Ben Bouchti, and Dr. Mohamed Achaghrouchni.
