Projects include recycling an Airbus A320 at SCLA - Victorville, CA, three Boeing 707's at Lackland Air Force Base San Antonio, TX, aircraft and parts for Delta Airlines, and aircraft destruction and recycling at terminals in Minneapolis, MN, Detroit, MI and Chicago, IL. They are a member of the Aircraft Fleet Recycling Association (AFRA). Mission The company's mission is to provide an environmentally responsible, on-site, worldwide demolition recycling service for end-of-life aircraft and aircraft engines. They aim "to provide a more economical, convenient and environmentally "green" method to recycle retired or damaged aircraft." Their target market includes the US military, commercial airlines, insurance companies and leasing companies. Recycling In an article appearing on Flightglobal, AFRA notes that 12,000 aircraft will be headed for landfill in the next twenty years. In 2010, AFRA set a goal to have 90% of the materials recovered from end-of-service aircraft to be recycled by 2016. They believe that currently 70% of materials can be recycled. Here a BBC podcast talks about demolition and recycling aircraft in their program, One Planet. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p00fvjq3 Photos, Demo and Recycling These are photographs taken of aircraft demolition and recycling as performed by Aircraft Demolition.
