On 1 July 2024, an Air Europa Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, operating as Air Europa Flight 045, on a scheduled international passenger flight from Madrid to Montevideo, experienced strong turbulence. The aircraft later diverted to Greater Natal International Airport, Brazil. 40 passengers were injured with 10 hospitalized. Aircraft The aircraft involved was a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, registered as EC-MTI with serial number 62169, that was first delivered in 2018. The aircraft was equipped with two Rolls-Royce Trent 1000-D3 engines. At that time of the accident, the plane was carrying 345 people. Accident While cruising above the Atlantic Ocean at 36,000 ft.
