AfricaHacks is a company that organizes hackathons, tech training and events and technology platforms, with a focus on black youth. Founded in 2020 by software engineer and blockchain engineer Uchi Uchibeke (formerly of Shopify) and Co-founder Christine Edith Dikongué, an impact innovator, and international speaker, AfricaHacks is inspired by Uchi's experience founding and organizing Africa's largest Hackathon, NaijaHacks, and attending many Hackathons including Major League Hacking Hackathons and other hackathons at Stanford, Harvard, Princeton and others. In the first quarter of 2020, during the global COVID-19 pandemic, AfricaHacks worked with 15 teams from NaijaHacks 2019 to transform their Hackathon idea into Startup companies. Approach Hackathons AfricaHacks member event program was started to enable anyone to plan their own Hackathon using resources, process and tools developed by AfricaHacks. BothoHacks, Botswana's first student-focused, was the first AfricaHacks member event. Startup Creation Program AfricaHacks created a company creation program with supporting partners like AWS Activate, Twilio for Startups, Hubspot for Startups and others.
