Adly Mirza

Adly Addalla Mirza, Ph.D. is presently an Instructor of Arabic in the College of International Studies at Hawaii Pacific University and Lecturer/Academic Coordinator with the University of Hawaii at Manoa. He is a linguist, academic, and artist. Dr. Mirza teaches all levels of Arabic language and culture. He is also the Arabic Instructor to the US Army, US Air Force, and other US Military Branches in Hawaii.

Born November 16, 1951 in Yemen, Dr. Mirza has lived, traveled and worked in many Arab-speaking countries. He is considered fluent in many Arabic dialects and colloquial languages. He is an accomplished paint, drawing, and photography artist. He is also a musician and is the Arabic coach for the popular TV series LOST .

Past Career Experience

After completing his education Dr. Mirza entered the science field. Many government groups sought his expertise. This led him to work in hydroponics in Ontario, Canada, work in research on plant physiology in California, and later to work in agronomy for the State of Hawaii.

Art
Dr. Mirza later gave up his career in the sciences to pursue his love for the arts. The majority of Dr. Mirza's art has focused on his three children.

Dr. Mirza entered the arts world by creating portraits at craft fairs. His first breakthrough came with an exhibition at the Cafe at Borders Ward Center in Honolulu, after which the Honolulu Advertiser published a feature article on his life and art.
