Adelphi Hotel

Adelphi Hotel was a hotel based in the city centre of Sheffield, England. It was notable for the founding of Three major sports teams, Yorkshire County Cricket Club, Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday F.C.. In 1854 a public meeting was held where it was annouced that a cricket ground will be built on Bramall Lane. The Sheffield Football Association was also formed at the hotel.
They show influences from Harrow, Rugby, Winchester and Cambridge rules. However, Creswick denied that Its landlord at the time was Harry Sampson who was himself a noted cricketer and held the record for the highest individual score on ice. The hotel was demolished in 1969 to make way for the Crucible Theatre.
