Ace Blackwell

Ace Blackwell is a fictional character from the sitcom Half & Half. He appears in "The Big Off Pitch Episode" as a baseball player who pursues a music career. At first, Dee Dee thought it would be amusing if she could deliberately crush his dream, since he frequently expressed extreme happiness which annoyed her. However when it is found out that the pro-athlete is musically gifted, a fight erupts between her and half sister Mona, both of whom want to sign him so they could make millions off his profits. Ace Blackwell was portrayed by Ace Young, who later became a contestant and finalist on the FOX's reality series American Idol a year later. When the episode was announced it was re-airing (on April 3 2006), it credited Ace Blackwell as a real person. Reliable television references such as the U.S. TV Guide and the Internet Movie Database credited it for Ace Blackwell. Ace Blackwell even has an Internet Movie Database profile, even though he never existed in real life. In reality Ace Blackwell is not a real entertainer or person and Ace Young has no affiliation with the name Blackwell.

The episode was aired in hopes of bringing some attention to the little known UPN network before the move to CW.

Ace Young left the FOX show three weeks later, on April 19.
