Accounting specialist

An accounting specialist or accounting assistant or accounting associate is a paraprofessional with some knowledge of accounting principles, who assists accountants in such roles as accounts payable and accounts receivable, and usually reports to an accounting supervisor. An accounting specialist is above a clerical or administrative assistant, but below a junior accountant, in terms of required education and training. An accounting specialist will usually have some college credits, such as those required for a career studies certificate or associate's degree, but not necessarily a bachelor's degree.
