The Accord Language School was created in 1988 as an institute which teaches French as a foreign language. Each year, the school welcomes more than 5000 students from 50 different nationalities and has been awarded the FLE Quality Label from the French ministry of education. The school is situated in a typical Parisian building on the Grands Boulevards, the site of the old city walls. Having long been called the Boulevard of Crime with its procession of theatres, pubs and eateries, it was renovated in the nineteenth century by the work of Baron Haussmann who modernized Paris and gave birth to a network structure, setting a benchmark in urban theory. The main objective of the school is to expose students to conditions and constraints that they would face in social life and develop learning strategies to transfer the skills which they already have in their native tongue to communication in French. Grammar is approached through language games, simulations, interactive activities and varied exercises during different moments of communication.
