Abducted by the 80s is the forthcoming sixth studio album from the English band Wang Chung. It is scheduled to be released on Geffen Records sometime in 2010. Abducted by the 80s will be the band's first studio album in over two decades. A sample of the title track is currently available on the band's MySpace page. Background In an interview with Music Pleasuredome in October 2005, Jack Hues implied that he and Nick Feldman began recording new material since April 2004. The two were "working on and off" the album until they got "invited to perform on 'Hit Me Baby One More Time' in Los Angeles" in June 2005. Though the band did not advance to the finals, "the great response we got...cemented our intention" to complete the album. Hues stated that the band hoped "for a release in Summer 2006", but talks subsided for years to come. On March 19, 2009, Wang Chung was invited to the 2009 Regeneration Tour; it was the band's first tour as a group since 1987. Fifteen total tour dates were scheduled across the U.S., and subsequently uploaded to the band's website. Nick Feldman remarked that "the real driving force (behind the tour) was the new album" that the band had worked on and off for years. On April 8, 2009, the band's Twitter page stated that they were "in the studio recording", which was the first sign that the band progressed towards a forthcoming album since Hues’ interview with Music Pleasuredome three and a half years ago.
