A Routine Day is the tenth single by Canadian progressive rock band Klaatu, and the opening song on their third studio album Sir Army Suit, and is about a life wasted in the "9 to 5 grind". The song was accompanied by an animated music video, one of six made for a 30 minute animated film by the band. This video can be seen on the bonus DVD of the 2013 deluxe edition of Sir Army Suit. The B-side was "Older", a psychedelic hard rock song by the band from the same album. The song is known to be one the most Beatlesque songs in Klaatu's catalog, due to its "Liverpudlian" vocal styling and George Harrison-style guitar work. An instrumental outtake of the song is featured on the compilation album Solology.
