3Quarter-Aiming

3Quarter-Aiming is an Australian Flash game designing company, the first official company with a net worth under fifteen thousand dollars (American) to be created and run by minors. 3Quarter-Aiming was created in 2005 by two people under the aliases of 'Moosey' (13) and 'Confusious' (13), both assumed to be male, (later 'Moosey's' actual name was found out to be 'Reece'), 'Confusious's identity is still unknown, but is believed to be 'Harry', the person who is the subject of creation of 'BlockCastles'. Since 2005 the two-man company has grown to over 46 full-time graphic designers, game designers and coders.
History
Early Ideas
The first 'known' appearance of 3Quarter-Aiming was in the forums of the Xgen-Studios website in January 2006, where the original creator of 3Quarter-Aiming; Reece, was 'flamed' by other users for having highly elaborate ideas, yet few skills in art, coding and design. One such idea was in creating a game similar to Xgen-Studios 'Stick RPG'. Later that year, '3QuarterAiming' was banned, although the reason still appears unclear, and was temporarily out of action. But at the start of 2007, 3Quarter-Aiming was back again, with a new elaborate game idea; 'Hoboquest'. HoboQuest, to this day, is still yet to be finished, with 3Quarter-Aiming admitting to it being 'called off for rain'. 3Quarter-Aiming also at this time had released all three editions of 'Super Stick Supreme', 3Quarter-Aimings first dabble into animation. 3Quarter-Aiming was banned for having 'Multiple Accounts' less than a month after creation, leading 3Quarter-Aiming unable to communicate to the community desired. 'Confusious' decided to leave and create 'TheFlashHouse', in which 3Quarter-Aiming was invited to, but soon reverted back to 3Quarter-Aiming. It wasn't until February 2008 when 3Quarter-Aiming split, that Reece started using the alias 'Moosey', and later he decided to continue the name 3Quarter-Aiming. By march 2009, Reece had created an account for himself on the forums once again, but this time, users who had formerly helped get him banned, had switched sides, fighting off those who were trying to get him banned again.
Becoming Official
On 4th of February 2009, 3Quarter-Aiming officially became the worlds first company with a net worth under fifteen thousand dollars (American) to be created and run by minors. 3Quarter-Aiming at this time had grown to over 20 members, of which only four were friends of the original creators. 3Quarter-Aiming is known more for their bizarre business status, then their actual games, as they are mostly a donations based organisation.
Recent Activity
Since becoming a company, 3Quarter-Aiming has created two popular shooting games; 'Sniper Tower Defender' and 'snir'. These are the companys most notable games, because the company itself is almost entirely unsuccessful, except for these games. Large donations and 'MochiAds - Special Edition' advertisements are the main income from these games for the company. The company in a recent BBC statement said "we cannot afford to pay for our expenses and still create games for much longer, we will be officially closing sometime in mid 2010".
Games
Sniper Tower Defender
'Sniper Tower Defender' or 'STD' for short, was the first popular game created by 3Quarter-Aiming, with over one-hundred and twenty thousand plays from all over the world in the first two days. The aim of the game was to aim and shoot stickmen and tanks who would run at the base in order to stay alive. Originally, 3Quarter-Aiming had no intentions of finishing this game, but soon after showing friends in the area, 3Quarter-Aiming decided to finish the game. They released it on Newgrounds.com first, only to discouragingly have their work attacked by various users of the Newgrounds site, in which the game was heavily agreed to be 'too hard' and 'impossible to beat'. 3Quarter-Aiming decided to post-pone the creation of a sequal, because of the time and effort 'Sniper Tower Defender' had consumed.
Side Projects
- BlockCastles
3Quarter-Aiming had begun work on their second major game 'BlockCastles', which was his first RTS, in which you have to fight off balls that attack your 'Block-Castle', whilst attacking the opposition with a similar method. The game was dedicated to 'harry', who is assumed to be a friend of Reece's. The game was shot-down instantly, much to 3Quarter-Aimings surprise, as they had thought it was their best game yet, and 3Quarter-Aiming had 'begun to wonder whether creating games was worth it or not'.
- Ultimate Pong Fighters
Although around a month later, 3Quarter-Aiming had started their newest game. This game was to become 'Ultimate Pong Fighters', a game where the objective was much like the original 'pong', except you had two paddles (controlled by the mouse), and a corner to defend. The game was found to be too confusing for any sudden popularity, and was seen as too difficult to be fun. But this time 3Quarter-Aiming had seen this as a learning opportunity.
snir
3Quarter-Aiming had found that of the three types of games it had created, the sniper defence game was the most popular. Around the start of October 2009, 3Quarter-Aiming had begun 'snir'. The title was originally created by a friend of Reece's, but was later edited by Reece to 'snir'. The game was a spiritual successor to 'Sniper Tower Defender (1.7)' and features many similarities, but overall, snir was a very different game underneath. 3Quarter-Aiming had created the engine, which allows snir to run smoother and faster than 'Sniper Tower Defender', which 3Quarter-Aiming Refuses to give to any person or persons (within obvious reason). In a statement on Xgen-Studios, Reece of 3Quarter-Aiming has stated that he is worried that the engine may be obtainable via decompiling the game, and that he has done his best to secure the engine. The game so far has become moderately popular with different sites, and the number of daily plays is rapidly increasing. It is expected to supersede 'STD' in popularity by mid December. Currently the game receives around 50,000 plays everyday, with most of those being Polish, Swedish and Spanish nations, (but other popular countries include England, United States and Australia).
snir
In less than a month after the first game in the series had been created, snir had been released to MochiGames. The only substantial changes were the upgrades had been re-created and made more expensive, the Enemies had been tweaked to be more 'fun' to play against, and there was an option to change the menu language to Spanish. A much more positive response was received from these changes, leading hundreds of game sites to offer sponsorship and licensing deals. The game receives around 75,000 - 80,000 plays everyday, with approximately 54% played in Mexico, and other Spanish speaking lands.
Future Projects
HoboQuest
Hoboquest is the longest running project by 3Quarter-Aiming, being started in October 2006, and being constantly changed and updated (until June 2009). 3Quarter-Aiming says they have no plans to continue creating the game, but maybe one day next year, they may start from scratch to create a new 'HoboQuest'.
Snir 3
3Quarter-Aiming has also received numerous requests for a third addition to the series, to which the response has been a subtle 'soon'. Reports from those close to 3Quarter-Aiming personel suggest that the title could already be in production, but these rumours are strongly denied by all members of 3Quarter-Aiming.
