2021 Optimum Aviation Antonov An-26 crash

On November 2, 2021, an Optimum Aviation Antonov An-26, registered as TR-NGT, crashed near the White Nile just after take-off from Juba International Airport, South Sudan. Airline Optimum Aviation was founded in 1986 and performs Cargo and Charter flights and is headquartered in Juba, South Sudan. Flight The flight was scheduled to carry 28 fuel barrels to Maban Airstrip. After climbing from Runway 13 at 10:33 LT, the crew declared a Mayday emergency and after 5 minutes, the aircraft crashed near the White Nile. The plane exploded on impact likely due to a fuel ignition.<ref name=":1" /> Rescue services arrived at the crash site and found no survivors. Per a witness, the runway had traces of fuel, consistent with a departing aircraft. However, the witness is not aware if it was of the accident flight. See Also
