2016 Greater Noida Rape Case

A 16-year-old girl was allegedly raped and set ablaze by a youth in Indian city of Greater Noida near national capital New Delhi. Incident At about 2.30am on 7 March, Ajay, the accused came to victim. They met on the roof, where he raped her and set her ablaze. He fled from the spot.The girl was admitted in Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital ICU with more than 60% burns. The 18-year-old accused, who lives less than 500 metres from the girl’s residence, has since been arrested. She breathed her last at 4.30 am on 9 March, after battling an infection that eventually permeated into her blood stream, as is common in such serious burns. Sources said she also sustained blunt injuries on her head and leg. Aftermath Policemen were deployed in Tigri village following the incident, fearing tension. |
