The 2015 Kocho killings refer to the execution-style killing of at least 21 Iraqi Arab civilians in the village of Kocho, in Iraq's Sinjar District, by Yazidi militias on 25 January 2015. The attack was carried out in retaliation for the 2014 Sinjar massacre, in which thousands of Yazidis were killed by Islamic State (IS) militants. Killings According to a report by Amnesty International, Yazidi armed groups entered the Iraqi Arab villages of Jiri and Sibaya near Kocho and opened fire on civilians. Amnesty documented that the attackers abducted around 40 people, 17 of whom remain missing and are feared dead. The killings occurred after mass graves of Yazidi victims were uncovered nearby, intensifying local anger over the IS-led genocide.
