After a series of coordinated terrorist attacks in Paris by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant on November 13, 2015, Belgium raised its terror alert level.
One of the perpetrators of the attack, the Belgian-born French national Salah Abdeslam, was thought to be hiding in Brussels.
