2013 Irkutsk Antonov An-12 crash

On 26 December 2013 at around 21:45 local time, an Antonov An-12 crashed into military warehouses near Irkutsk in eastern Siberia. Its six crew and three passengers all perished,
but the plane remained intact.
After the crash, there was a fire.
The crash site is close to the Trans-Siberian Railway's Batareinaya station.
and had begun the landing phase of its flight. The aircraft, owned by the Irkut Research and Production Corporation, an aircraft manufacturer which has a factory in Irkutsk,
It was last seen on radar when it was one kilometre from the runway.
The aircraft had been built in December 1963
and "was within 130 hours of its 20,000-hour design airframe life". Vladimir Markin, speaking for the Russian Investigative Committee, said that "piloting error, malfunction of the airplane and bad weather" were being investigated as possible causes.<ref name=RIA/>
