2010 Staten Island Air Show Disaster

</noinclude>On May 31, 2010, a military helicopter's powerful propellers blew the branches off trees and blew dust/dirt/sand around while many bystanders were present during an Air Show Demonstration in Staten Island, New York for Memorial Day 2010. There was a report of ten injuries from the flying debris/branches/dirt that people were exposed to on the ground. However, no one was seriously injured, mostly people suffered from minor cuts/scrapes/bruises. The incident was captured on video and was posted on YouTube.
The aircraft, known as the MV-22 Osprey, was landing at Clove Lakes Park in Staten Island, at 8 AM on Monday, May 31, 2010 (Memorial Day). This demonstration took place as part of Fleet Week, which is an annual event honoring the U.S. military.
The cause of the landing mishap, was, according to Marine Corps spokesman Lt. Josh Diddams, the wind generated from the aircraft's propellers broke branches off a nearby tree. The branches were then swept into bystanders on the ground, leading to multiple injuries. Seven people were transported to Richmond University Medical Center, and three others refused medical attention.
