2010 Kensington warehouse fire

The 2010 Kensington warehouse fire was a five-alarm fire that occurred on the night of October 25, 2010. The conflagration burned a large warehouse at 2000 East Boston Street in the Kensington neighborhood of North Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
This fire, along with a row house fire that began at roughly the same time, in the same neighborhood, and resulted in the death of an elderly man, called into question Philadelphia's "rolling brownout" policy. This program, instituted by Mayor Michael Nutter, temporarily or permanently shut down Philadelphia Fire Department fire companies to save money.
The cause of the two Kensington fires is currently unknown.
