2009 Orlando shooting

The 2009 Orlando shooting occurred on 6 November, 2009, in Orlando, Florida, United States. One person was killed and five others were injured. It occurred in an office building in Legions Place in Downtown Orlando. The shooter was apprehended at his mother's home about two hours later.
Shooting
The shootings occurred at 1730 GMT in the Gateway Center building of Legions Place, located in Downtown Orlando. Orlando Police Department Police Chief Val Demmings stated later in the day that the shootings were confined to the 8th floor. OPD Sergeant Barbara Jones requested that family members of employees of Reynolds, Smith & Hills, Inc. (located at 1000 Legion Place Suite 800) go to the College Park Baptist Church to be briefed. The suspect Jason Rodriguez, was apprehended and in police custody as of 2:30pm EST.
Victims
One death was reported, and five others were wounded. According to an Orlando Regional Medical Center spokesperson, four of the wounded were delivered by ground ambulance, with conditions ranging from stable to critical. Their identities have not yet been released. According to local television news, Ferrell Hickson, a Florida Department of Transportation worker was admitted to
Florida Hospital, released on November 8th, was the fifth wounded victim. According to a front page Orlando Sentinel Nov 8th article, Otis Beckford, Age 26 was the reported death.
The full names of the shooting victims are as follows: Gregory Hornbeck, 39; Ferrell Hickson, 40; Guy Lugenbeel, 62; Edward Severino, 34; and Keyondra Harrison, 27.
Perpetrator
The alleged shooter is identified as Jason Rodriguez (age 40), a former employee of one of the businesses. According to a released statement by RSH, Rodriguez was an employee, but was released in 2007 due to poor performance evaluations. Police say they were looking for a man wearing a light blue polo shirt and jeans., and that he might be driving a 2002 silver Nissan SUV with license plate D119UX. Local tv news showed pictures of a four door silver Nissan sedan with a different plate parked at his mother's residence after he was in custody at the apartments. Police believe that the perpetrator acted alone, but his motive is still unknown.
Police spotted Rodriguez through the windows of his mother's home and asked him to come out. He was arrested without incident at the Hollowbrook Apartments on Curry Ford Road. When asked why he did it by reporters upon entering the booking facility, he responded: "They left me to rot."
