2008 Atlanta runway incursion

The 2008 Atlanta runway incursion took place at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, Atlanta, Georgia on January 11, 2008 when an Atlantic Southeast Airlines Bombardier CRJ200 bound for Greensboro, North Carolina ignored orders from the airport's control tower not to taxi across the runway where a Delta Air Lines Boeing 757 bound for Mexico was preparing to take off. The Bombardier's pilot acknowledged the order and copied it back to the tower, but did not stop.

Air traffic controllers estimated the planes came within about two to three seconds of a collision. Both continued on their scheduled flights and arrived safely at their destinations.
