19th Generation

19th Generation was a cover band from Melbourne during the 1960s. Members of the band included Graeme Worland (aka Graeme Ross played lead guitar), Russell Hitchcock (lead vocalists and played drums) with two other members playing bass guitar and keyboard.
The band 19th Generation played the Melbourne pubs and clubs scene and other private functions including the HMAS Cerberus Navel Base during the mid-late 1960s. They covered popular songs from artists as diverse as the Animals and Neil Diamond. 19th Generation played regular gigs around Melbourne until they disbanded in the late 1960s to move onto other projects.
Russell Hitchcock went on to form soft rock band Air Supply in 1975 with Graham Russell.
Graeme Worland (aka Gaeme Ross) moved into Television as a stuntman and actor. Worland worked as the stunt coordinator in the Australian movie Petersen in 1974. During the 1970s Graeme also worked as an actor on other Australia Television shows including Homicide Division 4, Matlock Police, Rush and Bellbird Worland was instrumental in establishing stuntmen as actors and establishing their rights within Actors Equity. The rights of stuntmen became an issue in Melbourne movie scene when a director working for the Crawford Production company died doing his own stunts for a movie to save money on the production. Worland left the industry in the late 1970s to start a wholesale nursery business in Mullumbimby, NSW.
