1874 Northwich FC

1874 Northwich Football Club is an English football club based in Northwich, Cheshire. The club was founded by the Northwich Victoria Supporters Trust following a vote by its membership. On Thursday 15th November 2012, the members, fans of Northwich Victoria FC, voted by 141 to 4 in favour of breaking away from the club they supported and forming a new community owned team in their town. It later emerged that on the day of the vote, the owner of Northwich Victoria (the club the fans voted to break away from) had been declared bankrupt and therefore failed the FA Fit and Proper Persons test.
On 29 November 2012, fans attended an open meeting in the town, where they chose the name 1874 Northwich for the club. In order to avoid legal issues over the new clubs name, none of the proposed options presented to fans included the words Vics or Victoria.
Within hours of the name vote being finalised, a company representing Northwich Victoria registered several domain names involving 1874 and Northwich. This was done by Graham Bean via his business Football Factors.
