The domain co.nr was registered on March 30 1998 and soon after in 2002 the .co.nr free domain service started. Under the direction of the Republic of Nauru's .nr ccTLD they began to offer free domains (which are actually subdomains of co.nr domain) to the internet community. CO.NR is not a ccTLD registry for .NR domain names. It is an administrator and operator of the CO.NR domain name zone.

History
Up until Sep 15, 2003, CO.NR offered an ad-free domain service. However, they now request that small 88 x 31 linkback ads are placed on the main (first) page of user’s website.

Premium domain service (domains with full DNS control) was postponed in 2005 due to some problems and abuse.

During mid 2006, .CO.NR started to offer instant account activation when registering domains.

Current .co.nr
Currently, CO.NR offers support to those who register a domain with them. When registering a domain, .co.nr check that all sites comply with their Terms of Service. To check that users link back they have a script which runs at random times and reports domains without a valid linkback. The reported domains are reviewed manually to ensure that the link is not found somehow. .co.nr has many services to offer, such as favicon, URL cloaking, URL path forwarding, meta tag support, and many other services. When premium services are out of beta-testing, more services, such as full control over domain name, will be released. Also, .co.nr provides other domains such as .com, .org, .net, and .us on third-party servers. E-mails for .co.nr subdomains have been disabled due to spam issues.

Policies
CO.NR requires all users to make a small link back to the main freedomain.co.nr site. This is enforced by a bot script that checks each co.nr site for the required code. CO.NR allows users to modify the code, however one must contact support informing them of the code change. One may not have more than 25 domains and one may not have more than one domain point to one page. Failing to follow these policies results in suspension of domains until the issue is resolved.

.CO.NR Support
Due to a large amount of support requests, .co.nr created support forums which are located at www.forums.co.nr. On these support forums you can get help for many things including complaints, problem solving and complimenting the .co.nr service. One may also get support for many other issues and aid others. The staff contains 3 Administrators, 4 Moderators and 5 members of a team known as the ".CO.NR Forums Team" who help around the board and do general tasks. In addition, for support issues that can not be resolved on the forum, there is a form on the main site for directly contacting tech support.

www.biz.ly

Although .co.nr indefinitely suspended premium domains, they offer an alternative service at Nic.Biz.Ly. This is related to the .co.nr premium domain service (which is still under beta-testing). .Biz.Ly also provide a service with webhosting at www.Biz.Ly.
