The Yellowknife Tornado was a rare tornado that touched down in the Northwest Territories of Canada in 1978. Rated F2 on the Fujita scale, it leveled three barns and over turned a train. Some witnesses say that they saw a huge mile wide wedge coming into town from the west. The tornado was rated F4 before it reached the town of Yellowknife where it weakend into a stovepipe tornado only about in width. The tornado did casue severe damages to weakily built houses and even tore a house from its foundation but it was a really weak foundation. The tornado was only the third ever recorded in the region since 1960.
