Zach Adamson

Zach Adamson is a small business owner and politician. He was the first openly LGBT county-wide elected official in Indiana.
Biography
Adamson was born in Richmond, Indiana, and grew up in Marion, Indiana. He moved to Indianapolis, Indiana after graduating from Marion High School. He attended classes at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis. Eventually graduated from trade school.
In 2011, Zach Adamson became the first openly LGBT county-wide elected official in the state of Indiana when he was elected to an At-Large Indianapolis City-County Council seat. In 2013, the Indiana State Legislature eliminated the 4 At-Large seats. Currently, Zach represents District 16 on Indianapolis' Near-East Side, and is the only openly LGBT elected official in the state's largest city. He is also the only elected Latino on the council.
Zach Adamson is a small business owner in downtown Indianapolis. He belongs to the National Association of Latino Elected Officials. He was named Best Progressive Lawmaker in the NUVO Best of Indy Readers Poll in 2014 and Best Political Activist in 2015. He was awarded the National Sierra Club Distinguished Achievement Award in 2015. The award recognized the work he put in to stop coal from being burned within the Indianapolis city limits.
Personal life
Zach lives in the city’s Willard Park neighborhood with his spouse, Christian.
