ZaapTV

ZaapTV™ (rendered Zaap TV) is an Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) receiver. The receiver streams live channels using a system through which television services are delivered using the Internet protocol suite over a packet-switched network such as the Internet, instead of being delivered through traditional terrestrial, satellite signal, and cable television formats.
Development
In the early 2000s there was a demand for a device that could bring foreign channels to specific countries that no other services could deliver. In the developing stages the idea was to create an IPTV that could connect people internationally by being able to view channels from anywhere in the world. Initially it would be a device that could stream Arabic and Greek channels to all of Europe. Later on the idea was expanded to have more channels streamed worldwide and a receiver that could meet these specifications was set into development. That device is known today as the ZaapTV HD1009N.
History
ZaapTV was born in 2009 by releasing its first generation device known as the HD1009N, also known as the first generation device or the ZaapTV prototype. This was the smallest device to ever be created by ZaapTV with limited capabilities. It became widely popular in Europe and the United States by mainly the Arabic and Greek communities. It is also stated that this was the prototype model to do market research on the industry. Upon its success and forecast of future attributions, plans were made to create an improved device.
In 2010, the HD209N (second generation) came out and compared to its predecessor it had double the processing speed, better hardware, and more capacity for channels. It allowed to view several internet applications, including many movies and series on demand that were free for users. This device is what truly launched ZaapTV to be the industry leader it is today.
Late in 2011, the HD309N (third generation) was an improvement over the old device. The service and channels were identical, but the hardware was much more advanced, it had faster processing speed and a more durable case.
In the end of 2012, the HD409N (fourth generation) changed the way ZaapTV operates. The engine software was a completely new system over older models which needed to be done for ZaapTV to add the features it wanted in its receivers. It now had build in Wi-Fi which meant that users didn't have to use an Ethernet cable or an external component to use the device. It historically achieved the ability for an IPTV receiver to record in real live time what the viewer chose to record at the moment, which no other known IPTV receiver has accomplished today.
At the end of 2013, ZaapTV has released the new ZaapTV HD 509N receiver. While the HD409N is the market leader, HD509N is poised to be the receiver of choice by the consumer over its predecessors. The positive consumer outcome the HD409N has had since its release of December 2012 and lessons learned from prior versions has led to the robust new design of HD509N.
