Ykee Benda

Wycliffe Tugume better known by his stage name Ykee Benda, is a Ugandan musician and songwriter and the Uganda Musicians Association, (UMA) President. He is mostly known for his hit song Farmer which was later featured on Sheebah Karungi. He also featured on 2018 FIFA WORLD CUP song by Jason Derulo but never performed on world cup events.
Early life
He was born in Naguru, Uganda before his family shifted to Kireka,Kampala.He is the Seventh child among the eight siblings. He attended Shimon Demonstration School for his primary Education,and went to St Lawrence Secondary School.
In his Senior Six vacation, he started writing poems and his songs. He was rejected by his parents to join Makerere University Business School for bachelor's degree in Business computing, where he had just spent only one semester.
Ykee Benda got a scholarship to study Chemical Engineering to in Algeria, which he took up to make his parents proud.
Music career
In 2015, he released a hit song Muna kampala and Farmer which were produced by Nessim under Badi Music production, that won him a country wide recognition and internationally.
He also featured Jah Prayzah from Zimbabwe and Mr.Bow from Mozambique in Coke Studio,Africa. He has also featured A Pass on Turn Up D'Vibe . In 2018, he won the African newcomer artist of the year With An AFRIMMA Award held in Dallas, USA.
As of March 2020, he hadrecorded a song to sensitize and empower women about Gender Based Violence
