Yasser Morales

Yasser Morales (born December 11, 1977, Havana, Cuba) is a Cuban-American bassist, musician, and science educator.

Morales is the former bass player for legendary Hialeah based Death Metal band Hibernus Mortis. He was the second bassist in the bands line-up. Morales was recruited by Hibernus Mortis founder and former high school buddy Ralf Varela in late 96. Yasser appears on the first recording entitled Into The Thresholds Of Dead Winter (1998). His style and sound was greatly favored by many of the early fans of Hibernus Mortis.

Morales played on a 5-String Ibanez bass and on a 4 string fretless ESP bass. He used Hartke bass amps and cabinets. Some of Yasser Morales' influences include Steve DiGorgio, Steve Harris, Geezer Butler, Cliff Burton, Geddy Lee, Phil Lynott, Tony Choy, Mark Van Erp, Sean Malone, Jean Baudin, and many more.
Morales was let go of Hibernus Mortis in late 1999 for reasons yet unclear. It is believed that Morales' musical style did not fit the bands evolving vision. The later works of Hibernus Mortis continued to break ground, but it is clear that the later bass sound was heavly drowned out and did not pierce through as did the earlier recordings.
Yasser Morales currently still resides in Hialeah, Florida. He is a Biology & Earth/Space Science teacher at Mater Academy Middle/High in Hialeah Gardens. He is actively pursuing a masters degree in Science Education and plans on returning to school to work on a masters/doctorate degree in Marine Biology. He is no longer musically active, although rumors are he's actively looking for new musical projects.
