Yankees Draft Picks

The New York Yankees have been known to throw away (trade) or keep their draft picks down in the Farm System until they are close to 30.
Al Leiter
Al Leiter is one of the most famous thrown away picks the Yankees had. On September 15, 1987, he made his debut for the Yankees and he also ended his career with the Yankees on October 2, 2005. In between 1987 and 2005 he played for three other teams. He now is a broadcaster for the New York Yankees.
Omir Santos
The Yankees drafted Omir Santos, a current day catcher for the New York Mets. The Yankees would release him. Now he is the part-time catcher for the Rivals, the Mets.
Brandon Boggs
The Yankees drafted Brandon Boggs in the 2001 MLB Draft, but did not sign him. He re-entered himself in the 2004 MLB Draft and was drafted by the Texas Rangers.
