The Yaesu FTM-350R is a dual band VHF/UHF 2M/70cm FM mobile amateur radio transceiver. It is currently in production. US units also have the 1.25M band (at 1W) so can be called a tri-band transceiver. The FTM-350R has 2 independent receivers and 2 memory banks of 500 locations, one per side. Currently the radio does not support sharing of memory banks from either side. You can copy a memory entry but only to another location within the same side. To add the entry to the other side you will have to program it manually. Memory channels can be hidden so as to ignore certain channels while scanning. If you stop the scan and rotate the dial the hidden channels will again be available. Several upper and lower limit memories are also available. For example, you can program a lower limit with 145.000 MHz and the Upper Limit with 146.500 MHz. Then select either the upper or lower limit from memory and start a scan. The radio will scan all frequencies between those 2 limits. Memory locations can have a 8 character alphanumeric name associated with them. The radio natively supports APRS with an optional GPS receiver. It also supports Bluetooth with optional accessories. A clock, and up/down timers, and a barometer are included. The optional GPS enables speed, location, direction and altitude information. Firmware updates require an optional cable that is attached to the data port on the rear of the main unit. Speakers are included in the front panel and a single speaker is included in the main body. External speakers can be connected via a 1/8" stereo jack on the main unit. The front panel connects to the main unit via a 8 pin cable with RJ45 connectors on both ends. Another 1/8" stereo jack is used for audio input. A data connector is also on the rear of the main unit.
