Rules
Overview
Xotball is a game played with two to four players. It is played on a trampoline and uses a large, rubbery, and hollow ball of the size of an exercise ball. The oject of the game is to be the last player standing by eliminating other players.
Basic Gameplay
-The game is started when the referee drops the ball into the middle of the trampoline. The players wait at the edges while this is done.
-When the ball touches the surface of the trampoline, players may begin play. Play consists of players kicking or hitting the ball with their feet or any part of their body except their hands and forearms. For the most part, players will attempt to hit the ball at other players.
-When a player touches the ball with any part of their body, or is hit with the ball by another player, he or she must fall to the trampoline's surface. They cannot rise until a part of their body from the knees upwards, except the arms, has touched the trampoline's surface.
-If the ball exits the trampoline's enclosure, the player who last made contact with the ball recieves one mark.
-A player is out of the game when he or she reaches three marks.
Winning
A player wins the game when he or she is the last player left in the game, with all other players having been eliminated.
Outs (An out being when the ball exits the trampoline enclosure.)
-An out is void if one or more of the following occur:
-A player interferes with the enclosure in a way that makes an airborne ball go out of the trampoline.
-Two players hit the ball almost the same time, creating a situation where the referee can not determine who the ball touched last.
-The ball hits the surface of the trampoline and the goes out of the enclosure.
Stults
(A stult is when a player falls down onto the surface of the trampoline as decribed above.)
-When the ball hits a player, that player may prolong the time until he or she is required to perform the stult by two seconds, but, on the second time a player comes in contact with the ball, they must perform a stult immediately.
-A player may perform a stult at any time, whether they have come in contact with the ball or not.
-When recovering from a stult and rising from the surface of the trampoline, a player is not required to perform a stult if they touch the ball within two seconds of rising.
The Ball
-The only circumstance under which you can touch the ball with your hands are when the ball is in the air above the player's waist, and while the player is not in the process of stulting. If both of these conditions are met, a player may punch the ball with a single fist. Outs are judged as they normally would be after a punch.
-If the ball exits the enclosure any other way then over the top of the enclosure, it is not considered an out.
-The ball may mot be held or constrained against the enclosure or another player in any way.
Fouls
A foul is when a player disobeys one of the rules of the game. A certain number of foul marks are given to a player whenever he or she commits a foul, and a total of six fouls is counted as a mark against that player. A player can be eliminated from the game by accumulating foul marks.
Whenever a player commits a foul, the referee wil blow a whistle and gameplay will stop while the referee allots foul marks.
The following are a list of the fouls that exist in Xotball, as well as the number of foul marks they recieve from. (Indicated in brackets.)
If, at the beginning of the game, a player touches the ball or interferes with it in any way before it has hit the surface of the trampoline. (1 mark)
If a player touches the ball while it is not above their waist, or intentionally touches the ball with the hands or forearms while performing a stult. (1 mark)
If a player does not perform a stult within the required amount of time. (1 mark) (The referee, if judging that either this was not fully intentional, or judging that stopping play will hinder another player, will not stop play)
If a player intentionally touches or hits the ball three times or more. (1 mark)
If a player fails to perform a full stult after touched by the ball and does not touch the trampoline surface with at least the knees or higher when performing the stult. (1 mark)
If a player continues play intentionally after a whistle to signal a foul has been given (1 mark)
If a player interferes with the enclosure in such a way that it causes the ball to exit the enclosure. (2 marks)
If a player holds the ball against the enclosure intentionally to hinder another player. (2 marks)
If a player forces the ball intentionally on another player using the force of their body against the ball to aid them. (2 marks)
If a player places themselves on top of the ball intentionally to aid themselves or hinder another player. (2 marks)
If a player picks up the ball and lifts it from the surface of the trampoline or from the air intentionally, whether it be with the arms or legs, and keeps the ball from falling to the surface of the trampoline. (3 marks) (If the player then proceeds to throw the ball at another player, a full mark will be alloted towards them.)
If a player purposefully comes in contact with another player with any part of their body. (3 marks) (If a player does this for more than two seconds, a full mark will be given, if for more than 4 seconds, that player will instantly forfeit the game.)
If a player intentionally hits another player forcefully and intentionally with any part of their body in the head, neck, stomach, knees, or groin. (18 marks - forfeit)
Ref Call Fouls
A ref call foul occurs when the referee of the game judges that a player has repeatedly tried to hinder another player without committing a foul, or that one player has repeatedly committed actions during the game that are annoying to other players, or show bad sportsmanship. When the ref calls a ref call foul, the player called recieves 2 foul marks.
