History XCritic is an adult entertainment review site which was started as a spin off from DVDTalk in October 2007 . The site is a completely independent entity and is not owned by the company who now owns DVDTalk.
The XCritic site was started to fill the need in the marketplace for good and honest advice about adult entertainment. Its roots come from early adult reviews added to DVD Talk in late 2003 [http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/list.php?reviewType=Adult+DVD+Video] in response to reader's who requested the site also review adult DVDs in addition to their mainstream DVD reviews.
In late 2002 a regular adult column was launched called "The Blue Room" . In 2003 the coverage of the AVN Adult Entertainment Expo raised the visability for Adult section of DVD Talk which helped fuel its growth.
The section continued to grow, expanding the adult column in October 2005 adding Adult Gay Reviews in June 2006 and received the coveted "Original and Quality" rating from Jane's Guide one of the definitive resources in this space. In October 2007 all the adult sections were combined and spun off as XCritic .
Shortly after the launch blog section was added featuring blogs from porn stars including several Digital Playground stars: Stoya , Adrianna Lynn and Shay Jordan as well as former Digital Playground contract girl Teagan Presley.
Since launch the site has been covered for several consumer oriented promotions it's done with major adult studios for the release of Upload
High Def Format War and XCritic XCritic has been advising consumers about the High Def format war between HD DVD and Blu-Ray Disc as it relates to adult entertainment and was cited in a December 26th article in Investor's Business Daily .
