X-Cart is a proprietary ecommerce web application with open source code that was created in 2001 by a group of three students from Ulyanovsk State Technical University and Ulyanovsk State University who quit studying later in order to continue development of X-Cart. X-Cart was created using procedural programming approach and relational database paradigm (database is driven by MySQL). Its design and layout is controlled by template-based Smarty engine. History Initially named F-Cart the project started in 2000 and was renamed to X-Cart later in 2001. The first X-Cart version was introduced on the 7th of October 2001 to 25,000 sites all over the world. X-Cart and PayPal reported that $78,021,993 were processed by online merchants using X-Cart integrated with PayPal in 2nd quarter of 2012 . |
