Fictional history
The early alien attacks (mid-1980s)
In the first television series, the Supreme Headquarters Alien Defense Organization (or just "SHADO"), commanded by Edmund "Ed" Straker (Ed Bishop) is a top secret military force with the strike of stopping an extraterrestrial humanoid species' planetary invasion attempts.
After a secret war the alien attacks misteriously stopped and SHADO eventually ceased to exist.
Foundation of the World Space Commission
During or after the interplanetary conflict, the Commission, the International Lunar Finance Commission and the Global Defence Command were founded and, in 1983, Moonbase Alpha was build as the substitute of the secret SHADO Moonbase and, eventually, the Soviet moonbase.
In 1985 the Commission launched the two Voyager unmanned probes. The first probe was launched successfully, but the second probe has killed more than 200 people during its launch.
In 1996 were launched the Ultra Probe and the Swift. The first's crew (exluding Captain Tony Cellini) was killed by an extraterrestrial monster called "the dragon", the second's Captain was killed by his robot Brian.
