World Film Magic

World Film Magic is a film distributor based in Hollywood, California.
The company acquires and distributes DVD and theatrical projects with full rights for worldwide distribution to cable, satellite, television, and internet video on demand, as well as movies for traditional movie exhibition and digital projection theaters. Primarily engaged in licensing and distributing feature films and television programs, World Film Magic distibutes new release content to retail, for labels like Imcine, and Westlake Entertainment. The company worked with Lions Gate and Warner Brothers to promote and distribute new Mexican and Latin cinema, as well as independent projects from the US and other countries.
World Film Magic has also created Exhibe Flix to offer its own outlet for movie exhibition,
ExhibeFlix.com.
History
The company was founded on December 12, 1998 by Jose R Carrera Gonzalez, a producer and distributor from Durango, Mexico, He founded World Film Magic Distribution and ExhibeFlix.com. With support from his wife Sky Rodriguez, Budget Films and his former lawyer Ronald Chew, Gonzalez began exhibiting movies in 16, 35mm and video to hospitals, jails, cultural centers, schools and libraries and also to distribute movies to stores and theaters. At one point Gonzalez' collection consisted of 10,000 movie titles in 16 mm and 35 mm. When he worked as an editor for United Artists, his friend Francisco Olea, a filmmaker who participated in the making of "Angels with Angles" with Frank Gorshin and other projects, joined him to co-found World Film Magic Distribution and Exhibe Flix. Ramon Alvarado joined afterwards. The company started to produce some trailers, short films and videos. Attorney Jess Araujo subsequently joined the company. Justino Rivero helped at the initial stages of Exhibeflix.com. Adan Manriquez and Maria de los Dolores Rojas joined the company in 2014. Leticia Cornell serves as one of the executives in charge of production.
As they were able to work with studios including Warner Brothers, Universal Studios, Cineville and United Artists, securing distribution deals for producers of independent films, they also distributed movies in Latin America. After this period, the company had associations with companies including Imcine, and Churubusco Studios, producers of Perfume de violetas, nadie te oye, and Amores Perros
Other movies in their catalog included Love Takes Time, a low budget project with an all black cast, Chunky Monkey from England and Patrulla 81 from Mexico. Patrulla 81 features the six Latin Grammy winning band Patrulla 81 from Mexico. Francisco Joel Mendoza's other films produced by Cemex and Churubusco will also be distributed by World Film Magic. As a producing entity the World Film Magic is set to produce Pure Shooter with a long list of recognized actors. World Film Magic has collaborated with industry professionals including Robert Rodriguez, Carlos Gallardo, Hugo Stiglitz, Ricardo Montalban's Nosotros organization, and George Lucas.

*Jose Gonzalez, CEO, born April 4, 1967, started as an editor for United Artists for eight years then became a producer and then a distributor. He studied graphic design, editing and film at Whittier College, and also performed as a professional drummer for the band Hollow Point.
