Introduction
The development of WOEmu, first started somewhere in April 2007, by Dennis initially examining the protocol.Sometime in 2008, he had a stable test build, featuring login, and terrain streaming, but it served only as a proof of concept for whether or not it was feasible to continue development. Dennis's PoC proved quite successful, and sparked the emulators first recruitment drive. Several ads were posted on websites like the ragezone forums. These drives proved none to successful. It wasn't until 2008-11-25 That he officially received his first developer, AquaFiX. (Ex. Himself). Upon AquaFiX's arrival it was decided that the existing host at mmoforge was too slow, and ill-equipped for the soon to be, fast moving pace of the project. Blake established a SVN Repository, and forums on his dedicated server, in which the project could utilize. Shortly after, Jordan was accepted into the team. After writing a buggy server, the team decided to completely rewrite the server in Java instead of C#, and is now a lot more stable and user friendly. As of now, the project is actively being developed and has a little (for now) community of well mannered Wurm fans.
Website
This website is the base of operations for WOEmu. It hosts several applications that are vital for the development of the emulator. (webserver, bugtracker, etc.) It was generously given to the WOEmu community by the co-leader of WOEmu, AquaFiX (or Blake). This gave WOEmu the opportunity to start a community and gather developers, testers and discuss everything involving the growth of the project.
January 1, 2010
This is the date that the public beta server will be opened. A historical moment and certainly a milestone in the WOEmu scene.
