WinAbility Software is a provider of computer security and file management software for consumers, and also for small- to mid-sized enterprises worldwide. WinAbility products include the Folder Guard line of computer security software. History The first software products were developed in 1993-1994 by Andrei Belogortseff, the founder of WinAbility Software, and included File Manager Stepup, a utility to complement and enhance the File Manager included with Windows 3.1x. The Folder Guard product was born in February 1997, as an attempt to provide a means to control access to user's files and documents, a feature that Windows 95 was missing. Later Folder Guard was expanded to support Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7. The company offers other software products as well, such as AB Commander, a dual-panel file manager, and USBCrypt, an external drive encryption tool. |
