Wimpole 2000

Wimpole 2000 F.C. are a football club based in Colchester, Essex, England. They were founded in 2000 by Terence Rudd, Steven Mycroft and Ronald Hunnable and are members of the Colchester and East Essex Football League First Division.

The goalscoring referee
In 2001, Wimpole were involved in an unusual match in which the referee scored a goal. The team were losing the Great Bromley Cup First Round game against Earls Colne Reserves 18-1 when referee Brian Savill volleyed the ball into the net. Savill eventually resigned as a referee after being suspended by the Essex County Football Association and charged with misconduct. The events attracted media attention around the world.
