Wim den Herder (born December 20, 1983) is a Dutch jazz guitarist and entrepreneur. Biography Wim den Herder is a son of Frank den Herder, classical pianist and teacher at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague. At a young age, Wim was introduced to the violin and piano. At age six, he was first introduced to the electric guitar. In 1997, den Herder performed with Jan Akkerman on the Dutch television show Geef Nooit Op. Later that year, aged 13, he won the National Guitar Awards, and in 2003 he began to study jazz guitar at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. He developed a style of playing multiple parts at once, similar to fingerpicking, with only a plectrum. This style, which he called "wimpicking", attracted the attention of Harry Sacksioni, who then invited den Herder to tour with him in December 2007. Shortly after finishing his training at the Conservatorium in 2008, he recorded the DVD Introducing with the Wim den Herder Trio. He went on to contribute to the album Adrenaline, by Harry Sacksioni. In 2009 Den Herder founded the Guitar Academy, a guitar training academy.
