Willy Chin Remix

Willy Chin also known as “Willy Chin Remix,” is an internationally recognized DJ and producer based in Miami, Florida. His music career began as a member of the acclaimed Black Chiney Sound which consists of the core members Supa Dups, Bobby Chin and Walshy Fire.
Willy has been recognized on a global scale for his mastery of inventive and unexpected mash-ups and remixes and as a result tours the globe as a guest DJ at nightclubs, concerts and events.
History
Born Warren Hoo, Willy Chin credits his innate musical talent to his strong Jamaican roots and Chinese heritage. With a family history deeply rooted in music his motivation to pursue the industry stemmed from mentors such as his uncle Paul Chin who founded ‘Cosmic Force Records’ and his cousins - Supa Dups who founded Black Chiney Sound, renowned guitarist Mitchum ‘Khan’ Chin, and computer genius Nick Vyrux.
During his formative years as a child, Willy listened to Supa Dups DJ on a popular radio station in Miami and would record the shows at home on his cassette player to replay and study. Willy credits this exercise for giving him the valuable lessons in mixing music and song selections. Debuting his musical talent in 1998 at the early age of 13, Willy DJ’d alongside his uncle and cousin at various events including weddings, anniversaries, office and house parties.
While working at a local music store, Willy was introduced to the technological aspect of digital manipulation by his cousin, Nicholas Lyon. It was only then that Willy realized how influential Nicholas would be in the new direction his passion and career was heading. In early 2000, this knowledge soon fueled Willy’s obsession with remixing and he soon became known as the ‘Remix King.’
Willy released his first mixtape in 2003 “Willy Chin-Volume One” and soon after gained international recognition within the Caribbean for his innovative music style.
A pivotal moment in his career was his performance at Next Level Entertainment Group’s ‘Summer Splash 2003’ in Montego Bay, Jamaica. It was a few weeks after this performance that Willy was recruited to officially become a member of Black Chiney Sound.
Willy is widely recognized for his experimentation with fusing genres creating interesting mash-ups using Dancehall; Hip-Hop; Soca; Calypso; Salsa; Meringue; Country; R&B; 60’s; 70’s; 80’s; Rock & Roll; and much more.
In 2004, Willy established CLab Studios and has been involved in several mainstream and underground production projects working with renowned artists such as Beenie Man, Elephant Man, R City, and more. In 2008, he launched his own record label, Willy Chin Music, and debuted his own Dancehall Riddim Project - Deco Drive Riddim.
