Wild Wonders of Europe - Unseen, unexpected, unforgettable
The Project
Wild Wonders of Europe is a photo-based mass communication- and nature conservation- initiative, with the aim “To reveal Europe’s amazing and mostly unknown Natural Heritage to the 700 million Europeans and the World. So that we can all better enjoy it and also protect it for future generations. We want to reconnect Europeans with nature and to celebrate nature protection and the Joy of things Wild”.
This is to be done through sending out more than 50 of Europe’s Top nature photographers, on 90 missions to 100 locations in 44 countries, during 14 months of 2008 and 2009.
The organizers mean that this is “the biggest professional photography project ever carried out in Europe”. And also “possibly the biggest conservation communication initiative in the World”. Not only judged by the number of professional photographers and missions involved, but also seen in combination with the media outreach aim to reach 700 million Europeans.
The Outcome
The resulting image and video collection is planned to be used for five main products: • A large outdoor exhibition, touring to all 44 countries in Europe • A web site, www.wild-wonders.com • An AV-show, touring to culture festivals all around Europe • A TV documentary and podcasts, streaming and DVDs • A flagship book, published in most European languages, and a host of associated products.
Wild Wonders of Europe is initiated by and run by Wild Wonders of Europe Ltd. which is a limited company, based in Ballintean, Glenfeshie, Kingussie, Scotland.
