Career
Whitney Gravel quickly went on to pursue political aspirations after college, serving as an administrative assistant to Senator Jacob Javits in 1984 and soon after developed a career as a real estate developer, of which her husband once held a career in during the 1980s.

Personal life
Whitney married Mike in 1984 and became the stepmother to two children, Martin Gravel and Lynne Gravel-Mosier, from Mike's first marriage to Rita Martin, who Mike divorced. Whitney is also a grandmother to four grandchildren.

Political activities
Whitney, though supportive of her husband's campaign, has remained out of the spotlight, only making her first speech about the campaign in July 2007 at a candidate wive's luncheon, where she discussed, among many other subjects, the popular YouTube video where Mike stares into the camera before throwing a rock into a lake and walking off into the distance, "Who would've thought that would make such a splash, no pun intended," she noted. "You never know what the reaction is going to be. You're never in control." She also was very excited to mention the National Initiative during the meeting, which would open up some policy decisions to popular vote.
